The first CANA retreat took place last summer. Senegal is one of the 11 pilot countries for the CANA year, so I was keen to come and see the reality of the mission in Senegal for myself and to support this young and dynamic initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\">By Marie Bourbonnais, a consecrated sister of the CNC, head of the CANA International Mission<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:28px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:1.7\"><strong>CANA Weekend at Keur Moussa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We enjoyed a <strong>wonderful CANA weekend at Keur Moussa Abbey on the theme of \u2018Tenderness and Sexuality\u2019<\/strong>. <strong>17 couples<\/strong> were present, and several were attending for the first time: either because they had taken part in a few CANA Welcome monthly meetings, or because they are in their CANA year without having yet attended the CANA week. Nearly 25 children were present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:1.7\"><strong>The weekend went very well<\/strong>. I admired the work of the local team and their various contributions, which were very insightful. They have a rather remarkable way of getting newer couples involved: <strong>at every event, they ask a new couple to take charge<\/strong> and assign a core couple to support them. Isabelle &amp; Fulgence were therefore in charge of this weekend, supported by Chris &amp; Nelly. As for the national CANA leaders, Antoine &amp; Madeleine, they were looking after the children and gave a teaching session. <strong>The core team members are very dedicated; it\u2019s inspiring<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"23179\" src=\"https:\/\/dam.chemin-neuf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-14-at-00.13.13-1-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23179\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"23184\" src=\"https:\/\/dam.chemin-neuf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-14-at-00.13.12-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23184\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-id=\"23183\" src=\"https:\/\/dam.chemin-neuf.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-14-at-00.13.09-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23183\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height:1.7\"><strong>The theme of the weekend was very well received by the couples.<\/strong> The teachings and testimonies were relevant to the couples, and the highlight was the time set aside for reconciliation within the couple\u2019s relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We attended Mass at <strong>Keur Moussa Abbey<\/strong> and I had the opportunity to pray at various services with the twenty or so monks. I was able to chat with one or two of them who were well aware that the Community is based at Hautecombe Abbey. I also took the time to visit the Benedictine nuns based five minutes from Keur Moussa, at <strong>Keur Guilaye Abbey<\/strong>.
