Community

Born in 1973 through a prayer group in Lyon, the Chemin Neuf Community is a Catholic community with an oecumenical vocation.

It brings together men and women, celibates, singles, priests (Religious Institute), and couples who choose to witness together of their faith in Jesus Christ and to work together for the unity of Christians.

The majority of the brothers and sisters of the Community work professionally.
Others work full-time serving the Church.
The Community lives by its work and divine Providence
in order to accomplish God’s projects in the mission.

The Chemin Neuf Community is an apostolic community which is inspired by both the spirituality of saint Ignatius of Loyola and of the experience of the charismatic renewal which appeared in France about 35 years ago.

It has over 1500 members in 25 countries.
It has missions, now, in over 50 countries, and is implanted in around 15 countries.
The Community has become international.

Besides its life of prayer, the Chemin Neuf Community is very active in Hautecombe:

International Formation Centre
The Abbey, each year, welcomes for 3 months or one year, young people from all continents and different Christian denominations. They follow a Biblical, theological and community formation to serve the Church. Through prayer, spiritual accompaniment and community life, the time of formation is a time to discern their calling.

Cana sessions are also offered. They allow couples and families to refind the meaning of their life as a couple, of their marriage and of the family today, by broaching essential questions. They permit an opening to God’s action in moulding the couple and sharing with others the difficulties and richness of the life of a twosome.
