Disciples of Christ
couples and celibates committed within the same community
One of the particular characteristics of the Chemin Neuf Community is undoubtedly the commitment and life together of couples and of brothers and sisters consecrated in celibacy.
Couples live either in a “Common Life Fraternity” (in one of the Community houses) or in a “Neighbourhood Fraternity” (in the same area). In each case, families have their own living space (apartment or house) in order to preserve the privacy of the family and of the couple.
Although commitment in the Community concerns only parents and not their children, these are often the first to benefit from the spiritual journey their parents undertake, and are the joyful witnesses of the fellowship that is possible between people of different ages, cultures and Christian denominations.
The majority of married members of the Community are gainfully employed and are involved in society in various ways.
In apostolic life, couples and celibates share responsibilities together. In this way, within the Community, work and prayer unite lay-people and celibates in order to serve the Gospel together.
